Officials from Karnataka's Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) raided and ordered the closure of the kitchen at South Ruchi hotel, located on Race Course Road in Bengaluru, following consumer complaints regarding food quality and hygiene standards. During the surprise inspection on September 9, 2026, food safety officers unearthed critical operational violations, including unhygienic food preparation spaces, improper storage practices, and mislabeling of packaged food ingredients.
The enforcement team confiscated several non-compliant items and instructed the hotel owner to immediately halt all kitchen operations. Under the directive, the establishment's kitchen must remain closed until all mandated health and sanitation standard operating procedures are fully implemented. FSDA officials will perform a mandatory re-inspection to verify compliance before granting permission for the kitchen to reopen.
This inspection is part of a wider statewide enforcement campaign directed by Health Minister U.T. Khader. Food safety teams across Karnataka have been conducting surprise checks on high-end hotels, local eateries, dark stores, and central distribution hubs to prevent the sale and distribution of unfit, expired, or adulterated food products.
