The taluk-level pre-university (PU) colleges sports tournament was successfully conducted at the Kavi Chakravarti Ranna Stadium in Mudhol town, Bagalkote district. Local Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) and former minister R.B. Thimmapur attended as the chief guest and addressed the gathering of student athletes from various pre-university colleges across Mudhol taluk.
Inaugurating the event, MLA R.B. Thimmapur highlighted that engaging in athletic activities is just as crucial for a student’s overall development as academic learning. He pointed out that regular participation in sports helps young individuals build physical endurance, mental fortitude, discipline, self-confidence, and a healthy team spirit. He advised student athletes to maintain consistency and dedication in sports practice without being disheartened by defeat or becoming overconfident in victory.
The tournament featured various track and field events, as well as popular team sports including kabaddi, kho-kho, volleyball, and athletics. Top-performing student athletes from the Mudhol taluk meet were selected to represent the taluk at the upcoming Bagalkote district-level PU college sports competitions. Local education department officials, physical education instructors, college principals, and sports enthusiasts were present to encourage the young participants.
Over 600 students from 22 rural unaided schools across Kurugodu taluk participated in the annual KUSUMA sports tournament hosted at Sri Nandi School ground in Badanahatti village.
